Double Deep Pallet Rack system is a variation on Selective Pallet Rack system and is best understood in comparison to it. Selective Pallet Racking, two single rows of pallet racks are placed back-to-back. But in Double Deep Racking, four single rows of pallet racks are placed back-to-back. This arrangement limits immediate accessibility to only the two aisle facing pallet rows. Ideal storage, system for companies that have high volume distributed SKUs, It employs LIFO principle.
Double Deep Pallet Racking is a variation of normal Selective Racking where the pallets are stored two deep. However, since they are two loads deep you will need a double deep reach truck with an extendable pantograph to load and unload from these pallet rack systems.
This style of racking allows each front pallet to be removed or put away as per normal selective rack, with a second pallet stored behind. The advantage of this type of racking is ‘storage density’ allowing more racking and less aisles in your warehouse. The only issue occurs in access to the rear pallet as the front one needs to be removed first.
This type of racking also requires a double deep forklift and bottom beam fitted to accommodate the fork lift out rigger legs.
For high level storage it is recommended that guide rails are fitted for safe pallet placement.
Double Deep Racking systems include:
Benefits of Double Deep Pallet Racking
• Efficient use of floor space with a good aisle/shelving ratio
• Increase storage density by around 30-40% with good selectivity
• Keep product lines together by storing two pallets deep
• Easily reconfigured to adjust shelf levels or convert to selective racking
• A Cost-effective racking configuration
This type of racking system has the ability to store homogeneous goods – homogeneous pallets such as food, consumer product, storage center, high- volume product
It is a versatile and efficient racking solution with a good balance between pallet selectivity and pallet storage density. Pallets are placed two rows deep instead of one in double-deep racking systems, similar to selective racking, thus resulting in a higher storage density. The pallets are still accessible simply and rapidly. By default, our framework is designed to be installed against a wall or in conjunction with another double deep-section behind it, resulting in a 65% increase in floor area. Reconfiguration can be done to the changing storage needs Enables more efficiency, eliminates unnecessary aisles, and maximizes the use of available space. Can also be established in automated warehouses through stacker cranes with telescopic forks. Ideal for homogeneous or identical product warehouses
